Tuscan Wine Gift Box
Packaged in a wooden case, this gift box contains two award winning wines from Tuscany that celebrate key historical figures from the Mazzei family.
Ser Lapo 2016, 750ml: Ser Lapo was the author of the first official document that mentions “Chianti wine” so his name graces this outstanding Chianti Classico Riserva from the Fonterutoli estate. A Sangiovese with complementary varietals, this tannic red has an aroma or berries with an earthy and intense tast., It pairs well with stews, grilled red meats and mid-aged cheeses.
Philip, 750ml: Filippo Mazzei was asked to introduce winemaking to Virginia by Thomas Jefferson and his name graces this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the two Mazzei family estates in Tuscany, Castello di Fonterutoli and Belguardo in Maremma. With a full, ripe body, long taste with pleasant and fresh aftertaste, this pairs well with game stews, aged and blue cheese and spicy food.
The Mazzei family have been producing wine since 1435, so can combine the knowledge of 25 generations with innovative sustainable methods. For example, a striking feature of the barrel cellar is the use of a natural spring that emerges from one of the walls to control temperature and humidity.
