The houseplant trends everyone was talking about at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show

There have been lots of climbing and cascading plants spotted in the houseplant studios, most notably in the beautiful conservatory design by Petersham Nurseries, who adeptly use the beautiful colours and scents of Trachelospermum jasminodies and Stephantois floribunda, which thrive in the greenhouse.

‘The inspiration we have taken for our Houseplant Studio has come directly from The Conservatory at Petersham House,’ says Bryon Thomas, Head of Horticulture at Petersham Nurseries. ‘We are trying to create this beautiful aesthetic, somewhere calm, somewhere you can relax, somewhere where plants are very much at the centre of your everyday and within that space we hope to create a calming and beautiful environment.’ They’ve succeeded, and climbing plants really aid in creating this comforting embrace of an exquisite glasshouse design.
