Using the finest locally sourced botanicals, hand-blended and bottled in England, means our body and facial oils are traceable, lower impact and consciously made.
Tell us about you, how did get to where you are?
I started Londe in 2018 after discovering the healing properties of botanical oils and now with a small team we create all-natural oils for skincare, massage and aromatherapy. We’re rather unique in that all of the botanicals in Londe’s blends are locally sourced and grown in the UK; I come from a farming family, so it was important for me to know where our ingredients were from and who has grown them. Sourcing locally gives quality, transparency and connection with the natural world around us.
How would you describe your work in three words?
Gentle / Botanic / Rituals.
Where do you feel most inspired and who inspires you?
I feel most inspired on walks in the Somerset countryside; this is where the idea of Londe first came to me and where we always head for quality family time. I’m inspired by both of my grandmothers; their appreciation of nature and poetry, their intelligence, work ethic and wit.
What is your creative process?
I research locally grown botanicals and then speak with farmers and producers to learn about their uses, seasons and availability. Once I have a selection of ingredients, I work with my team in Dorset and we back and forth on ideas until we’ve perfected the blends. From there the oils are hand-bottled and I apply the labels and finish the packaging back in my in Bristol studio.
What materials do you most like to work with? Does it differ depending on subject?
I have an ongoing obsession with borage seed oil, it feels like silk on the skin and borage is one of the best crops for our precious bees. I also love that the blackcurrant seed oil we use is a by-product of the beverage industry. Of course, we use lots of fresh lavender oil as well, it seems to bring balance to everything.
What’s your greatest achievement?
I’m proud of creating a business I love that works in harmony with parenthood (most of the time!). I picture Londe as a lovely plant that grows and bends around our family’s life.
What does the next few years look like for you and what are you most excited about?
I’m excited about the new ingredients we are starting to work with, such as yarrow, thyme and mint. I’d love to find British grown rose and violet oils one day. Over the next few years I’d simply like to introduce more people the powerful ways oils can be used for self-care…and the beauty of local botanicals.
