Super-Tuscans – Rewriting Wine History

Tuscany is a bastion of tradition in Italy – indeed, the first Italian DOCG was Brunello di Montalcino. Home of many traditional wines including Chianti Classico, Montalcino, Montepulciano, the region saw a new trend growing in the mid-20th Century, with many winemakers wanted to forge their own path. They gave birth to ‘Super-Tuscan’ wines, an adventurous winemaking aiming to produce wines that defy the DOC rules. Using international grape varieties, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, they reaped incredible results and are today amongst Tuscany’s, and also the world, biggest stars.
Tariq, our Private Client Manager, will talk you through some of our exclusive Super-Tuscan wines, including sought-after Siepi and Concerto made by the Mazzei family. These exquisite wines will be paired with a menu crafted by our executive chefs featuring seasonal game.
