Petersham Platform: Meet the Maker for London Craft Week, Powered by Hub Dot

8th May 2019 , Covent Garden

Throughout 2019, join us for a series of events that explore the Slow Food and Slow Living philosophies, methodologies that consciously minimise our effect on the environment.

About
Petersham Platform is a space for discussion, education and expression. Engaging with fellow thinkers on issues of sustainability, craftsmanship, responsible sourcing and agriculture.

A seedbed of inspiration; a place to cultivate, unearth and grow.

Throughout 2019, join us for a series of events that explore the Slow Food and Slow Living philosophies, methodologies that consciously minimise our effect on the environment.

The second in our series of events coincides with London Craft Week (8th - 12th May) and will be hosted by Hatta Byng, Editor of House and Garden magazine. Hatta will be joined by craftspeople with a story to tell, many of them linking to objects that can be found in the Shop at Petersham Nurseries. Hear unique stories about the power and beauty of making with our hands, and discover the inspirations, origins and methods behind some truly inspiring pieces and brands.

This interactive and dynamic event will provoke a lively conversation around our buying philosophy and the importance of craft in our modern world. Recognising the value we place on humanity, integrity and creativity, we aim to support and champion appreciation for the work of the unique makers we work with at Petersham Nurseries and beyond.

Hatta will be joined by:

- Emily Mathieson from Aerende, ethical homewares and interior products created by people in the UK facing social challenges.

- Felicity Jones, porcelain clay ceramics made using wild flowers, grasses and skeletal leaves.

- Jude Gove, individually designed and handcrafted leather and wool felt accessories.

- Syreeta Challinger and Rob Mackenzie, unique pen and ink artwork and the MOSS brand, created to celebrate love and beauty after life-changing events.

- Tabara N’Diaye, founder of La Basketry which champions the heritage craft of Senegalese basket making.

- Trudi Savin from Yateley Papers, bespoke block printed textiles, desk stationary and home accessories.

Mocktails and canapés will be served.

Powered by Hub Dot, the format of this event will taking a radically different approach that encourages you to leave your job title, status or label at the door and instead embrace the power of starting conversations with ‘what’s your story?’ instead of ‘what do you do?’ Be prepared to choose one of five coloured dots on arrival that reflects your mindset and feel free to strike conversations with others in a relaxed and informal way.

Hub Dot are a visionary company whose mission is to bring people together. Through the breaking down of barriers by the removal of labels, they create an inspiring space where individuals can find that one connection that could change their life. The results are truly transformational.

We will be offering a small number of tickets at a reduced rate to students and artists. Please email events.coventgarden@petershamnurseries.com to enquire.
