1000 Bamboo Village

Tropical forests have the highest carbon density of all forest types due to their ability for vast carbon sequestration. As such, protecting rainforests is one of the most effective actions we can take to tackle climate breakdown. 

Petersham Nurseries raised funds in support of the 1000 Bamboo Villages, who are helping restore 2 million hectares of degraded land in Indonesia through a village-based bamboo industry. 1000 Bamboo Villages aims to empower the rural community of Indonesia to become the leaders of restoring degraded land through a village-based bamboo industry.

The Petersham Afternoon Tea

The Petersham in Covent Garden serves a Bamboo Village inspired afternoon tea, combining Petersham Nurseries classics with Indonesian-inspired sweets, presented on a beautiful, themed hand-blown glass centre piece. A discretionary cover charge is added in aid of 1000 Bamboo Villages, who are raising vital funds to help restore 2 million hectares of degraded land in Indonesia through a village-based bamboo industry.

All donations will go directly to support the cause to empower rural communities of Indonesia to help them become land restoration champions whilst driving a Village Based Bamboo industry.
