Petersham House is lucky to have the Thames, Petersham Meadows, Richmond Park and St Peters Church as a backdrop. With its extensive yew hedges and lovely red brick walls, the garden at Petersham House is a well kept secret. Step inside, and it is easy to forget that central London is only a few miles away, such is the sense of calm and tranquility.
At 150ft (50m) long, the herbaceous border starts the year gently, gradually changing to what has best been described as a mad flowering hedgerow.
Built around a loose structure of permanent planting, which includes romneya, macleaya, rheum, eupatorium, irises and oriental poppies; the border's flowering season is prolonged using early spring bulbs, including tulips and alliums, and extends into late summer and autumn using annuals and dahlias.
All of the plants seen in the Petersham House borders will be available to buy at the Nurseries this spring and summer.

The garden will be open to the public on Sunday 6th May 2012 with the NGS. Click here for more information.
