Join Amanda Brame for our second seasonal all day workshop devoted to the Kitchen Garden. During this workshop we look at how to keep your kitchen garden active through the last of the summer weeks, and leading into autumn and winter. We begin discussing late sowing options for early September, whilst the ground is still warm, as well as sharing our expert knowledge on hardy crops for winter and protecting your plot against frost. Autumn is also a key time to prepare your plot for the next growing season, from replenishing nutrients in the soil – to planning your planting for a spring harvest. This event includes a tour of the Petersham House kitchen garden, where you will be introduced to soil preparation and maintenance. After lunch, the afternoon session will introduce you to the art of sowing successional salad and vegetable crops, drawing on Amanda’s years of experience as a kitchen gardener and allotmenter.
