Community Led Business

Thursday, 02nd June 2016 03:18pm by Ruby Boglione

Our inaugural event with Hubdot, “Making The World A Better Place”, took place on the 8th of June. Discussion focused on the components we perceive to be central to building strong communities. We talked about the power of the ‘community calling’, hopes for the future, and commitment to the things we believe in.

Inspiration and aspiration filled the glasshouse that usually hosts the Petersham Nurseries Cafe. The evening was one of sharing, stimulation and encouragement.

Prior to the event the H...

PETERSHAM NURSERIES
AT SLOW FOOD & SLOW LIVING MARKET

This July, in conjunction with Rosewood London, we celebrate Slow Gardening Month.

Rosewood London has recently...

Truffles - Myths, Legend & Reality

Every autumn I find there are days when the strong smell of white truffles brings me back to long walks in the San Miniato woodland area near Pisa where, in the company of American gourmets and my local mycologist, we went in search of the ‘Diamonds of the Earth’. I was teaching at an American Cookery School based in Vorno, on the hills behind Lucca, in Tuscany. There I learned where and how to identify a truffle tree and what to look for. Poplar is the common s...

October's Wild Food Walk

Monday, 14th October 2013 04:44pm by Claudio Bincoletto

In celebration of the autumn harvest we are hosting two Wild Food Walks in October. In anticipation we asked Claudio Bincoletto for some thoughts as to what we might expect on the morning’s ramble and the brunch that follows...

Autumnal fruits are ripening, some require particular attention, others are simply to be picked and preserved in jams, pastes, pickles and syrups.

The brilliant red berries of Mountain Ash (Sorbus Acuparia) appear from August/ September and ripen in October/ November. These...

..

In the last few years September has been full of surprises, particularly its wonderful sunsets. The mild climate allows fruits to ripen well, especially the grapes and winter fruits to be harvested later in the year (quince, medlar, late apples and pears). Ear...

Beekeeping at Petersham

Tuesday, 25th June 2013 03:58pm by Carlotta Passuello

Bee SuitMy internship at Petersham Nurseries began in cold February; with the heating’s constant “buzz” keeping us company in the office (I’m still tempted to turn it on sometimes; it might have to do with the warm Italian blood!), and cannot believe it’s been five months already!

I am a Master’s student at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, and have been mostly working on the recently founded Petersham Platform, a series of gatherings and events occurring at the Nurseries, all fe...
